Organize a PAWS Against Violence Walk in Your Community!
NAHS is partnering with Brittany Krenz, Strong Hearted Native Women's Coalition, to help interested tribal nations organize PAWS Against Violence dog walk events in their community to raise awareness on the link between domestic violence and animal abuse.
Research shows that many victims often stay or return to abusive situtations because the abuser threatens or abuses the victim's animals while they are away. Sadly, often the victim can't or won't leave because many DV shelters do not allow animals.
So, the purpose of these walk events is to bridge the gaps between victims and DV shelters along with connecting them to local animal rescues that can take of their pets and keep them safe, too.
